Sorong,west papua (Antaranews) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is currently visiting West Papua province to attend the National Mothers` Day commemoration event, which is scheduled to be held at Waisai in the district of Raja Ampat, on Friday.
He earlier was in Nabire, in the province of Papua, to inspect the airport development and to dedicate a power project.
Jokowi arrived at Raja Ampat at around 3:30 p.m., welcomed by Governor Dominggus Mandacan and district head Abdul Faris Umlati.
Along with First Lady Iriana, the governor, and the district head, the president enjoyed the well-known scenic attractions of Raja Ampat and went fishing on Saonek Island.
He enjoyed fishing on board CB. Kumawa Jade with Recky Tito Mugama, from the Raja Ampat association of tourist guides, as its chief crew.
Mugama remarked that the president enjoyed the time very much, and he was also very happy on being trusted to accompany him during fishing in Raja Ampat.
"We, the crew of CB. Kumawa Jade, are very happy to have been with the country`s number one person, even if it was for only a few hours," he revealed.
He expressed hope that the visit of the president would lead to the development of the tourism destination, which is called a hidden heaven in Papua, on order to make it more popular across the world.***
