Manokwari, W Papua, July 9(Antara) - The West Papua administration is keen to host some sporting disciplines during the 20th National Sports Week (PON) in 2020.
"This is an opportunity. When are we going to host the PON if it is not now," the governor was quoted as saying by Istiyono, head of the sport and youth affairs office of West Papua, on Friday.
West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan has conveyed his aspiration to the sports and youth affairs minister and Papua Governor Lukas Enembe.
He expressed hope that Governor Enembe would be willing to share several of the event's sporting disciplines with West Papua.
West Papua offers Raja Ampat as a diving location and the Sidey Manokwari circuit for holding the motorprix competition during the PON.
The province has claimed to have adequate facilities to accommodate every athlete participating in the PON.(*)
