Manokwari, (Antara)- The Office of Cendrawasih Bay National Park (Balai Besar Taman Nasional Teluk Cendrawasih) designs the master plan to developing potential tourism in that area.
The Head of BBTNTC Ben G Saroy in Manokwari, on Thursday, said that the central government is focusing on tourism development. The region should welcome what the President Joko Widodo efforted.
He said, the area includes three regencies in two provinces which are Papua and West Papua. The national Park lies along the areas of Nabire Regency in Papua and the regencies of Wondama Bay and South Manokwari in West Papua.
"To develop that area, we hold a cooperation with WWF and regional government," He added.
BBTNTC prompts an integrated tourism management among the regencies, Nabire, Wondama Bay and South Manokwari.
It also drafted a regional regulations and had been addressed to the government of Nabire and Wondama Bay. The regulations have being discussed in that two regencies.
"After the regulations approved, We will also push to draft a regent rule on the rate for tourism in that three regencies. We will also support that every village should have its own regulations," He said.
According to him, regulation is necesarry so that the tourism in this area could be well managed and beneficial in terms of improving the community welfare.
He said, BBTNTC and WWF had already facilitated a number of villages that will be promoted as tourism villages.
"In Nabire, we will assign one village in Soa, while in Wondama Bay, We focussed in Aisandami, and Gunung Botak in South Manokwari,"He added.
Adding that, those three areas are the strategic access for visitors in exploring the whole areas of the national park.
Ben wanted that the tourism management in the area would be effective and efficient for foreign and domestic tourists.
"This year, the design of the master plan will have to be finished. Then We will hold a meeting for all the stakeholders of three regencies,"He said.(*)
